David Dempsey
President, Principal Designer

David Dempsey attended the School of Business at the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg, SC, and received a degree in Landscape Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta. He inherited his love of gardening from his grandparents. As a child he had a small greenhouse to grow seedlings, nurture “suffering” houseplants and grow flowers for the spring. David never realized that his love for gardening and plants would evolve into a career path.

Prior to the creation of Viridis, David undertook an intensive study of landscapes and gardens throughout the U.S. and England. Starting from ground level, he went from pulling weeds at a small garden business to a top management and design position at a well-noted design firm in Atlanta. David’s talents are also sought after in the areas of floral and event design.

Viridis offers a comprehensive approach to landscape design, installation and horticulture services. David strives to assist Viridis’ clients with the integration of their interior spaces with the exterior “rooms” which he and his team will “furnish.” David sees Viridis growing to become a household name that will always provide quality services and maintain sharpened design skills for the client base.

David is aware that many Atlantans have a sense of pride of their surroundings. Their desire to improve property for enjoyment and beauty is significant. Having a fine garden or “refined” garden is much like being a collector of fine artwork. Fortunately, many Atlantans appreciate and patronize artists and creators.

Lawrence Adkins
Vice President of Operations

Lawrence Adkins first career was in accounting. With the prospect of a boring desk job, he made a major career change. Lawrence was able to combine his business skills with his love of gardening to create Viridis Garden Design Inc. with his partner David Dempsey.

“Viridis Garden Design distinguishes itself form its competitors by offering variety. They offer many different facets from extensive gardening and design to events and holiday decor” says Adkins.

“We are able to select our clientele which in turn allows us to establish creative gardens instead of cookie cutter plantings. Our staff is comprised of individuals from a variety of backgrounds each adding their own personal assets to our corporation. Variety keeps the interest high for our clients as well as our talented staff” he continues.

During his childhood in Endicott, New York, Adkins surrounded himself with plants and enjoyed visiting various nursery’s. His mother encouraged him to grow plants, while his father encouraged him to have his own garden. Lawrence attended the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Tami Larson
Horticulture Supervisor

Tami is one of Viridis’ senior employees and for good reason. She has been with the company since its beginning back in 1999 and has consistantly proven herself to be a genuine leader, a gifted designer and seasonal color specialist. She is a virtual encyclopdia of knowledge when it comes to plants and plant care. This wisdom allows her to navigate our clients property and gardens with great efficiency and ease. Her work with seasonal beds and plant variations is tremendous and Viridis is lucky to have her as their Horticulture Supervisor.

“I am thankful to work with the many talented and creative people at Viridis. The atmosphere of a small dynamic design firm, especially at Viridis, supports not only creative growth but inner growth as well. I am able to take great pride in my work everyday because Viridis takes great pride in their company and its employees,” says Tami.

Growing up in Minnesota exposed Tami to a much more complicated climate than Atlanta. The extremety between summer and winter is severe and this helped teach Tami how to utilize plants and flowers according to their varying growth attributes and how to plant for specific seasons in order to achieve the year round color.

Having attended Gwinnett Technical Institute, Tami further enhanced her knowledge of plants and plant maintenance by obtaining an associate degree in horticulture, specializing in seasonal variations.

“I love bringing the beauty of nature into home landscapes and specifically helping create a relaxing atmosphere that only plants could provide, for our clients and their homes. I have such a great appreciation for all plantlife and the complexities each different variety can bring to a garden.”
